Tragic resumption of conflict on Gaza border

The Palestinians in Gaza announced the end of their cease fire and like turning on a tap, the firing of rockets and mortars into civilian areas of Israel immediately resumed. The Israeli Government was unable to tolerate this situation and has attacked Hamas areas and supply tunnels which are believed to be the routes used [...]

Insanity in Zimbabwe goes on

On Thursday Robert Mugabe was claiming that the spread of cholera had been halted. The death toll from the outbreak has reached 792. The WHO has warned that the total number of cases could reach 60,000 unless the epidemic is stopped. Hospitals in Harare remain closed, there is no rubbish collection and people are drinking [...]

Mumbai

At least 195 lives have been lost in the terrorist attacks in Mumbai which started on Wednesday. India has blamed “elements with links to Pakistan”. I just want to say how sad this has made me, that people going about their normal peaceful business, in a democratic country not actively in conflict with any other [...]

So little urge to write

Today is Saturday, 29th November and  this is my first posting since the 11th.
Since then Barak Obama has been putting hs team together but I have had no urge to write, nothing of any consequence (apart from the loss of 360 lives to cholera) has happened in Zimbabwe to change the outlook there, and  we [...]

Today is Tuesday 4th November 2008, America stands on the threshold of a dream, it is the day of the American General Election. The talking is all over, and now, heaven help them, those that have not yet voted, but still want to, must grasp the opportunity to express their wishes.
It has been said that [...]

Advice for Peter Mandelson et al

Well now, it did not take long for something murky to be swirling round Lord Mandelson. I am talking about the goings on at a private party held on Oleg Deripaska’s yacht. Also present were Peter Mandelson, Nathaniel Rothschild and George Osborne. Here s what I consider to be a sound piece of advice to [...]

Election 08 outlook update

Following yesterday’s final debate it is looking like the Republicans have only the slimmest chance of winning now. Just in case, you may care to look at this:-
Sarah Palin as President  make sure you have a good click around, lots of things have hidden features. Whatever you do, don’t answer the phone.

Crude Oil Now $80

With oil prices now below $80 a barrel prices at the pumps are starting to fall. My memory may be playing tricks but I seem to recall that last time oil was $80 then diesel (never mind petrol) was under £1 a litre. Supermarkets are trumpeting that they are supporting motorists by cutting their prices. [...]
